Richard M. Greene, a respected California painter, has received numerous national and international awards, including the prestigious Salmagundi Club (New York City) 2004 National Acrylic Award, as well as the International Society of Acrylic Painters 2005 Savoir Faire Award. His paintings hang in private collections, museums and galleries throughout the United States.

He is primarily a people painter. The looks on his figures' faces speak volumes and they cover the
spectrum of human experience. He is also a skilled still life, seascape and landscape artist, making
wonderful use of light and dark.

Mr. Greene is described as a contemporary expressionist and his bold approach to painting is unique and immediately recognizable. His style is defined by his use of large brushes. He works in oils, acrylics, and watercolors, which makes for a great variety of textures in his work.

Following a stint in the Marines during World War II, he attended Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. Then, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Art from the University of Redlands. This was followed by a master's degree with an emphasis in painting from University of California at Long Beach.

Mr. Greene designed visual programs for the California Bar Association and selected Southland school districts, and he is the author and illustrator of a multi-media language development program titled, "The Alpha Bunch". He also worked as a teacher and administrator in California school districts, and an art co-ordinator in Laguna Beach, California.

A member of Oil Painters of America, the Morro Bay Art Association and a signature member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, he paints six to seven hours a day, stating, "I'm always happy to get up in the morning!"
